Drone videography in Los Angeles
Aerial footage can establish a location, show the relationship between spaces or introduce a wider sense of place. BY THE HILLS provides drone videography in Los Angeles with an FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot.
Start with the filming location and the purpose of the shot. The right aerial sequence should contribute to the project, whether it is a brand film, property presentation, venue video or broader production.
Discuss an aerial filming brief
Plan aerial footage around the story
Locations, properties and venues
Aerial images can show context that a ground-level camera cannot: a building’s setting, a landscape or the relationship between a venue and its surroundings. For a property-focused project, combine this with real estate videography.
Brand and commercial productions
A drone shot can open a scene, connect locations or add scale to a sequence. Share the treatment and intended edit so the aerial coverage fits the visual language of the rest of the production.
Ground and aerial footage together
When a project needs both, planning them together helps align lighting, camera direction and coverage. Explore video production or cinematography services to discuss the wider shoot.
Location feasibility comes first
FAA Part 107 certification does not make every location available for filming. Airspace, location permissions, site restrictions, weather and conditions on the day must be considered for each brief. The filming plan is confirmed only after the relevant location requirements have been reviewed.
For that reason, send an exact address or location pin instead of only a neighborhood. Include the proposed date, time window and any access arrangements. If aerial filming is not feasible, the production can be discussed around suitable ground-based coverage.
Based in Los Angeles
Projects may take place across Los Angeles and surrounding Southern California, including coastal, urban and hillside locations. Each site is assessed individually; availability of a service area does not imply permission to fly at every site within it.
What should I include in a drone inquiry?
Provide the location, desired shots, intended use, date and any existing location permission. Tell us whether you need footage for your own editor or a finished sequence.
